New Killswitch Engage

November 24, 2006

The new Killswitch Engage was released this week. Initial judgment of this new album leads me to believe that it’s not a huge leap into the realm of originality for KsE, so it’s basically more of the same.
But, as a KsE fanboy, that just means the album is fucking awesome.
A full review will follow. Also [...]

36 Crazyfists

November 9, 2006

For those patiently awaiting the US relase of “Rest Inside The Flames”, wait no longer. Available on i tunes as of the 7th of November is 36 Crazyfists’ latest offering.

God Dethroned: The Toxic Touch

November 4, 2006

Band website – These guys are from the Netherlands (this makes them Dutch). This album can be summed up thusly: Two or three fast and furious melodic death metal tracks with phenomenal guitar riffs and bulletproof drumming… and the other seven songs.
Also: I can do without the stock audio of the screaming crowd that [...]

Mastodon: Blood Mountain

November 4, 2006

After I gave Leviathan an 8 (Dec 2004), I had high hopes for the next Mastodon release. Well… hrm… that was stupid.
While Blood Mountain definitely shares a unique sound with the previous release that can only be called “Mastodon-y”, I’m not really feeling the prog-rock action which dominates this release. There are definitely some really [...]

Dry Kill Logic: Of Vengeance and Violence

November 4, 2006

Dry Kill Logic have to be the most underrated or unnecessarily unknown metal band around today. Their previous release The Dead and Dreaming earned itself the Mighty Ocho here on The Fury (May 2005), and this latest album almost picks up where the last one left off.
There aren’t as many brutal blast beats, and the [...]
